Did India let Pakistan off the hook or was the target achieved?

Many top defence experts, including a former army chief, believe India has repeated the mistake it made in 1948 and 1971. However, there are others who believe India, after hitting targets deep in Pakistan, had no reason to keep going up the escalation ladder.

After four days of a rapidly escalating conflict, it was announced in the evening of May 10 -- first by US President Donald Trump and then the Indian government -- that a ceasefire had been agreed to by both nations.
This decision was taken despite the Indian defence forces seeking to press their advantage earlier in the day. It upset many hardliners who believed that India had let Pakistan off the hook.
