India’s smartwatch market saw a record growth of over 274% YoY in 2021 shipments, according to a report by Counterpoint Research. Further, with QoQ growth of over 8%, Q4 2021 became the market’s biggest-ever quarter.
Domestic brand Noise led the market in 2021 with a 27% share and over 278% YoY growth. The report lists these factors as the major reasons behind Noise becoming the market leader: “Portfolio expansion towards lower price points, emphasis on community building, designing products according to preferences backed by a strong consumer database, and new alliances and partnerships”.
As per the report, the ColorFit Pro 2 stayed as the most popular smartwatch from Noise. The brand had 4 of its smartwatches in the top 10 models of 2021.
While Noise emerged as the market leader, Boat captured second place with a 26% market share with Storm as its best-selling smartwatch. Boat was actually the market leader in Q4 2021Fire Boltt took the third spot, with more than 20 smartwatch models across price points.
Realme got fourth place with a 23% YoY growth in 2021, while Amazfit rounded off the top five with 65% YoY growth. The Watch S contributed to around 30% of the total sales of Realme.
Amazfit, as per the report “led the market in the INR 10,000 – INR 15,000 price band with over one-third of the total shipments.”
When it comes to Samsung, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 remained its most popular model and helped by the sales of the Watch Active 2 the brand was able to grow more than 2X in 2021. The Galaxy Watch 4 series also contributed to over 16% of its total shipments.
“Apple remained flat in 2021 with the Watch SE contributing around 44% of its total volume. The refreshed line-up of Series 7 saw a great start with shipments crossing 100,000 units in Q4 2021”, added the report.
Dizo got into the top 10 smartwatch brands, riding on the success of its budget smartwatches. Dizo Watch 2 emerged as the most popular one from the brand.
